Nest Box Alert!

The nest boxes installed around the Reserve are usually well used and visitors watching them are often rewarded with the sight of adult birds taking in nesting or feeding materials at this time of year.

Sadly, some boxes have recently been tampered with, leaving them broken or open. Any disturbance is likely to result in them being abandoned , so we ask our visitors to watch quietly from the paths.

If you wish to see eggs in the nest and young chicks growing there is usually live footage on the TV in the Visitor Centre from one of our nest box cameras until the young have fledged.
